[RL with Remus]

Sirius was in the Gryffindor common room during one of his study breaks, sitting in one of the armchairs with his books out. He was supposed to be writing a History of Magic essay on the Goblin Wars of South-East Asia, but every time he tried to read another page's worth of information he felt his eyes drooping. Quidditch practice the previous night had been intense, and History of Magic was just. so. boring.

He leaned his head against the the chair. Closing his eyes for a few seconds wouldn't do any damage, right?

"Hmmm, perhaps not," Sirius said, wondering if he'd accidentally brought them too close back to the issue that had started Moony's freakout to begin with. "You can always blame me and tell people I'm a complete loon. It's close enough to the truth that I think people'll buy it."

Remus ducked his head. "It's close enough to the truth because it is the truth, Pads," he said, smiling slightly despite his blush. "Everyone knows that you're a handful. That I'm the responsible one. Maybe their first thought seeing you naked and me chasing you with a blanket of some sort might be something else, but they'll quickly filter through that and settle on the truth when they remember how ridiculous you are."

"This is very very very true," Sirius said with a laugh. "So as long as everyone remembers that I'm a complete lunatic and you're the poor unfortunate soul stuck dealing with my madness, all will be well."

"I don't see how they could forget that fact, Pads, seeing as how you'd be the one running around like a madman with no clothes on," Remus said, turning his smile to Sirius. His mood was starting to pick up again, and it was all thanks to Sirius. Remus knew that for a fact, and was grateful for his best friend once again.

"This is true," Sirius joked. "The sight of me naked does tend to burn itself into people's brains. No matter how very very hard they try to wipe it away. So no worries about them forgetting it anytime soon."

Remus shook his head, chuckling at his friend. He spoke up after a moment. "...thank you, Sirius. I... I was in a right state when I first came in here. You always know how to make the best of a situation," he said with a little smile. And alright, yes, he was still blushing, but he was allowed this time, he figured.

Sirius grinned. "No problem," he said. "I try my best. I mean, if being utterly ridiculous helps you feel better, you know I'm good for it anytime."

"But you weren't being ridiculous," Remus said. "I mean. You remembered the spell to fix my sweater," he said, motioning down to his sweater. "When I get upset, you get surprisingly...nonridiculous, really. Or well. You hold off until you know I'm better enough to appreciate it," he said, with a smile.

"Well, yeah," Sirius said. "Because if you're feeling crappy, I want you to feel better. That saps the ridiculous out for a bit." He smiled. "At least for a little while. I don't like seeing you depressed."

Remus nodded. Something inside of him absolutely floated at Sirius's words, and he had to swallow against that feeling. "I'm sorry that I get so depressed so often. It's... It's not easy, my life. I... I don't think it ever will be. And it's hard to get used to that. I'm sorry that you have to deal with that," he said, sadly.

"Don't apologize for having a hard life," Sirius said, looking at him with concern. "You're not some kind of burden or anything, okay? You've got every right to get upset when things are crappy or you feel down. Me and James'd be crap friends if we weren't there for you when things get rough."

Remus shrugged. He supposed that that was true, but. "You can't say that you honestly enjoy having to deal with all the moods that I get in, though...?" Remus asked. He knew that that wasn't what Sirius was saying, but at the same time, he couldn't help but ask.

"I don't enjoy you being upset...I mean, that'd be kind of screwed up" Sirius said. "I enjoy making you happy and chuckle like a goofball when I say something ridiculous, though. So if you're depressed or upset, I want to make you feel better."

Remus shook his head. "No, I didn't mean..." He trailed off, because what he meant sounded silly, especially against what Sirius was saying. "I just mean that... It can't be easy on you. Having a friend like me. I mean... If your parents ever found out..." God knows, Remus really, really hoped they wouldn't. He didn't want to add to the problems Sirius had there.

"Look, I... I'm not trying to drive you away, or anything. I really rather like having you around. I guess I just want to say...thank you. For doing things like this. God knows, I have enough mood swings, you should just throw me in a frock and call me female. James is bad enough, with all of the 'time of the month' jokes..."

"Don't ever worry about what my parents might think, Moony. I sure as hell don't," Sirius said. "And you don't have to thank me. What're friends for?" he added with a grin. "I may just have to throw you into a frock, though, just for kicks."

"You will do absolutely no such thing," Remus retorted. "I will fight you tooth and nail against it. I am not a girl, Sirius." Regardless as to how much he felt like one, sometimes, especially now that there was this whole mutual appreciation for the male physique that was embarrassingly starting to come up more often than he really wanted...

Sirius laughed. "No, you're not, but the mental image is still hilarious," he teased. "Especially if you're frowning and flailing about it. It would be an epic sight."

Remus pouted at Sirius. "You are a cruel, cruel person, Sirius Black," he said gravely, but he stuck his tongue out at the end of his statement to show he was joking.

"Why yes, yes I am," Sirius teased. "It's a wonder you didn't notice: I've been secretly evil this entire time. And I've been doing villainous things all along."

In response to Sirius's words, Remus grabbed the pillow off of his bed and threw it at Sirius. "Now you're just being ridiculous," he scolded, fondly.

Sirius let out a roar of laughter. "Now I'm being ridiculous?" he teased. "Not any of the points before, only just now?"

Remus just rolled his eyes at Sirius. "Does that question even need answering?" he asked, raising an eyebrow at the other boy, grinning at him despite himself.

"Only if you've never had the misfortune of dealing with me for more than ten minutes," Sirius joked, returning the grin. "So, no."

Remus shook his head at Sirius again. "C'mon," he said, gathering his stuff up from the bed. "Let's stop hiding up here in the dormitory and go downstairs." He shook a book at Sirius, teasingly. "Homework to do, y'know, Pads."
